Michael O’Beirne is from San Diego, California. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara with minors in History and Professional Writing. He later received a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Mr. O’Beirne started his career in law enforcement, working in the patrol, motorcycle, and detective units, and served his coworkers as president of the police association. This background helped him better understand legal issues inherent to public entities, including pensions, disability retirements, and administrative procedures. He retired in 2013 and decided on a second career as an attorney.

Mr. O’Beirne attended the University of Michigan Law School. While a student in Ann Arbor, he clerked for Sachs Waldman, PC, a firm representing auto workers, and as an intern with the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office in Detroit, where he handled preliminary examinations in criminal cases.

Shortly after graduation, he established his own practice in employment litigation, representing clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors in various lawsuits including unlawful termination, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, whistleblower violations, family and medical leave, defamation, discrimination, and disability accommodation in state and federal courts. Mr. O’Beirne has handled all aspects of litigation from inception to resolution, including trial.

In his spare time, Mr. O’Beirne enjoys swimming, weightlifting, and playing with his dog, Hercules.
